Silchrome offer a comprehensive array of finishing processes including electo-plating , paint and powder as well as conversion coatings.
What are conversion coatings?
Several different processes fall under the description of conversion coatings including Anodising, Phosphating and Blacking. During the process, a coating is created on the surface of the base metal through a reaction to a chemical. The key difference between the electo-plating process and conversion coating is that where in electro-plating a layer is added on top of the base material, in conversion coating the chemical reaction forms a layer both on top and below the base metal. This means about half of the coating is actually beneath the surface.
