What is Zinc-Nickel?

Zinc-Nickel can be applied to a wide variety of substrates such as steel, aluminium and brass to increase corrosion protection. Similarly, to zinc a further passivation stage on top of the coating can increase the corrosion resistance further. These include clear and black passivation’s.

How Zinc-Nickel Provides Corrosion Protection?

As with zinc and cadmium zinc-nickel acts as a sacrificial coating corroding preferentially to the base material. Due to the percentage of nickel in the coating this is far superior to zinc alone. Shown through a significant increase in salt spray resistance.

Zinc-Nickel acts as an excellent ‘key’ for subsequent processes such as wet paints, powder coating and range of Xylan systems. A combination of Zinc-Nickel and further top coat can create corrosion protection for the most extreme environments.
