Silchrome approved by global oil giant

Silchrome Plating Ltd, the successful Leeds based coatings company are proud to have been added onto the Approved Vendor List for International Oil & Gas provider, Schlumberger and its associated companies Cameron and One Subsea.

The Oil and Gas industries have been through turbulent times recently with a global over-supply forcing down prices for a prolonged period of time, resulting in major job losses and a shake-up of existing suppliers. As profits margins have shrunk, many Oil and Gas companies have re-evaluated their supply chains putting a greater emphasis on both quality and value for money.

Oil and Gas Components are known for both their high value and high intricacy and their products need to perform in some of the most extreme of environments on earth. As such many components are protected by the use of electro-plating and conversion coatings. This protective layer will most often be the final process step in a complete component and so is under exacting scrutiny and tight quality controls as not only is the part itself expensive, but the downtime associated with a failure of the part is even more so.

Silchrome Plating have invested heavily in the last four years in order to build on their reputation as one of Yorkshire’s most trusted metal finishing providers. The approval process which progressed over a 6 month period including extended on site audits means that Silchrome are now approved to carry out a wide range of metal finishing process for Schlumberger and its clients. Processes Silchrome are approved to carry out include: Silver Plating, Copper Plating, Nickel Plating as well as Phosphating, Xylan Coating and Molybdenum Based Coatings.
