Silchrome Plating are pleased to announce the further expansion of our team with a Graduate Vacancy for a Chemist.

Silchrome Plating are a thriving metal finishing business in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Established for over 60 years with a strong reputation in the sector, we have a diverse range of customers and components meaning no two days will be the same. We have put continuous re-investment back into the business, including staff training and upgrades to facilities, making this a forward thinking place to work.

 

The Role:

 

The successful candidate will become involved in a range of different projects designed to improve the performance of the business. The projects will be designed to solve real problems and to result in real changes being made not just a report to be left on someone’s desk. Initially the Graduate will be involved in supporting projects being managed by more experienced members of staff. Over time, as the Graduate gains the necessary skills and experience it is expected that the Graduatewill become able to develop and manage their own projects. They will always be supported by other members of staff but they will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned on their course in a work environment.

 

Recent Projects include:

  • Introduction of new plating process lines
  • Increase recycling of waste water
  • Reducing heat lost from the production process areas
  • Developing improved controls on plating processes to improve product quality

Silchrome is a relatively small company and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to all areas of the business.

 

Personal Specification:

  • A commitment to get involved
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to think logically to solve problems using their own initiative
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Good standard IT skills, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel etc
  • Understanding of chemical processes

 

​Salary: £15,000-£18,000 per annum
