What is Electroless Nickel with Medium Phosphorus?

Silchrome offer a semi-bright Electroless Nickel Plating containing between 7-9% Phosphorus content. Electroless Nickel produces a uniform coating that will increase the wear and corrosion protection of components Being Lead and Cadium free, Electroless Nickel meets ELV, WEEE and Rohss regulations.

Why Choose Medium Phosphorus and not High Phosphorus?

Electroless Nickel using a Medium Phosphorus level has a higher wear resistance and so can better protect against abrasion, cavitation and erosion. If your application requires both corrosion and wear protection, then this would be a reason you would choose a Medium Phosphorus deposit. One of the other differences between the two is that High Phosphorus deposits are non-magnetic whereas Medium Phosphorus deposits are slightly magetic. In terms of appearance, Medium Phosphorus deposits are usually brighter.

What Are the Advantages?

The main advantage of Electroless Nickel Plating is the uniformity of the coating. It provides an even coating on an entire part, even where there may be uneven surfaces and intricate geometries.

Electroless Nickel has a high melting point of 890 degrees and can perform well in high temperature oxidizing environments being able to withstand ohot Steam, Air and Flue gases.

Electroless Nickel is also suitable for saltwater and petroleum application and can withstand corrosive factors such as nitrogen, acidic chemicals and more.
