Introduction:
-
Chemical Blacking also sometimes known as black oxide is a low cost surface treatment used on steel and stainless steel. It produces a durable, aesthetically pleasing black finish. Because the oxide film is an integral part of the steel surface it does not affect the dimensions of the parts being processed so it is ideal for machined parts made to tight tolerances. Improved corrosion resistance is achieved by immersing the parts in wax, oil or rust preventative sealants that are absorbed by the coating. Its main benefits are Low Cost, Improved Corrosion Resistance and Improved Visual Appearance.
